Sal river


Sal river is the third largest river in Goa, it has its origin at Margao and continues to flow in many south Goa villages. The river gives one a warm welcome in Assolna with beautiful coconut tress on its banks and fresh breeze. The river is rich in diversity, the evergreen mangroves are found at the river banks balances its ecosystem perfectly.
The Assolna bridge which crosses this river was established in Portuguese era and still stands strong till date. From here one can view the Cavelossim bridge which was built in recent years, scenic beauty surrounding it is marvelous and many people visit here to capture the beauty.
This river is also called as the lifeline of Salcete as it supports many economic activities. People go out here specially for fishing, boating etc.
